Rowling surprised fans with the announcement of a new book. On Twitter, the British writer said she will publish the children’s story “The Ickabog”, originally created ten years ago.
Rowling explained to followers that “The Ickabog” will appear first on theickabog.com, for free. One or two chapters of the story will be posted every weekday, from today until July 10.
The author explained that she decided on the format so that children in quarantine, or even those who are returning to school in these strange and uncomfortable times, can read or listen while someone reads to them.
J.K. Rowling explained that he had the idea for The Ickabog a long time ago and that he read the draft story to his youngest children every night while working on the content.
As it was being prepared, the book came to be considered for adults, however, with the social isolation resulting from the pandemic, she resumed the initial plan to bring it in the form of entertainment for children.
A virtual contest was announced in which participants will be able to send illustrations to compose the physical book. For this, children from 7 to 12 years old must request that their parents or guardians submit the drawings on the official website, which will then be subject to criteria and appreciation by several publishers worldwide.
