Japan provides US $745,000 to support Mozambique

The Government of Japan has made available, through the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), US $ 745,000 for Mozambique, an amount that will be used to combat covid-19, was announced yesterday.

The announced support comes in response to the appeal of the Mozambican authorities and will respond to the priorities identified in the Response Plan to covid-19 in Mozambique.

The amount will be used, among other things, to obtain medical, sanitation and hygiene material, reinforce risk communication, involving the community, as well as support close to 250 families through multisectoral cash transfers.

For Unicef, the impact of the pandemic will also create a crisis in children’s rights and, therefore, it is necessary to act now so that (children) do not become hidden victims of the disease.

In the world, there are more than 7.2 million infected (7,218,406), of which 115,133 are new cases. Of the total infected, 409,111 died. From Monday to Friday alone, there were 2748 deaths. Those who have overcome the disease are 3.5 million people (3,554,603).
