Starting for its fourth edition, the Jazz ao Largo Festival already has a consolidated track and a well-defined programmatic orientation. The Festival returns from September 11 to 15 to the streets of Barcelos to flood the city with five days of jazz.
As usual, the involvement with the artists of the city is a must and, in this sense, this year we invite the Banda de Oliveira to the opening of the Festival. Barcelos will also have such sounding names as Bruno Pernadas Quarteto, Jeffery Davis Trio and Mário Laginha Trio. The Azenha Riverfront stage, dedicated to the improvisation universe, will host this year’s magnificent The Selva and the historic Carlos Bica, in a special solo concert.
In partnership with BarcelosBus, the Festival promotes a concert by German saxophonist Julius Gabriel aboard one of the city’s buses, an event that is expected to be historic and unique.
This year, the educational component of the Festival is also reinforced with an improvisation workshop led by the musicians of the collective The Selva (Ricardo Jacinto, Gonçalo Almeida, and Nuno Mourão). New this year will be the Jazz Workshop for children, with the duo Tatabitato.
All Festival activities have free admission.
The Jazz ao Largo Festival is an organization of the Municipality of Barcelos.
