João Domingues loses with Cuevas in the final of the Tunis tournament

The Portuguese João Domingues lost today with Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas, first seed in the final of the tournament in Tunis, failing to win the second trophy of the career in the tennis challenger circuit.

João Domingues, 221st in the world rankings, was unable to counteract the favouritism of a player ranked 140 places above in the ATP hierarchy in 81st, losing in two sets by the 7-5 and 6- 4, after an hour and 32 minutes of the clash.

The Portuguese player, 25, even reacted well to the break of the first game of service, returning the ‘kindness’ to Cuevas in the next game, in a first set in which managed to offer much resistance to the Uruguayan before giving up the second’ break ‘, precisely when it served to take the parts to the tiebreaker.

João Domingues, who has only one title won on the challenger circuit at Mestre’s Italian tournament in 2017, suffered the second defeat in front of Cuevas in the Tunisian final on clay, which had already been imposed on the Portuguese tennis player in Lima, in October 2018.
