João Sousa eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open

In front of the 76th world tennis player, the only Portuguese in the main frame of the Australian ‘major’ was defeated by the partials of 6-3, 6-4 and 7-6 (7-3), in two hours and 18 minutes.

Portuguese tennis player João Sousa fell today in the first round of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, after losing to Argentine Federico Delbonis, in three sets.

In front of the 76th world tennis player, the only Portuguese in the main frame of the Australian ‘major’ was defeated by the 6-3, 6-4 and 7-6 (7-3) partials, in two hours and 18 minutes.

In 2019, Sousa, 59th in the ATP hierarchy, reached the third round of singles at the Australian Open and was a semi-finalist in pairs, alongside Argentine Leonardo Mayer.
