João Sousa falls six places in the world ranking

The national number one, who today discusses access to the main board of the Masters 1,000 in Rome, in the third and final qualifying round, entered the 68th place of the hierarchy in September but has again maintained the downward trend that started last month.

João Sousa remains the only Portuguese representative in the ‘top 100’ ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP), ahead of Pedro Sousa (112º), João Domingues is (159º), Frederico Silva (193º).

Djokovic remains at the top of the world hierarchy, followed by Spaniard Rafael Nadal, second, and Frenchman Dominic Thiem, third, who won the US Open on Sunday. Swiss Roger Federer is fourth.

In the women’s ranking, Australian Ashleigh Barty also maintained the lead, while Romanian Simona Halep remains in second place. The third place is now occupied by Japan’s Naomi Osaka, who moved up six places after winning the US Open on Sunday.
