EDPCOOLJAZZ adds Jorge Ben Jor to the confirmed list for the 17th edition of the festival, already confirmed are names like John Legend and Lionel Richie
Jorge Ben Jor is one of the pioneers of Brazilian popular music and will take the stage at EDPCOOLJAZZ on July 30th.
The Brazilian artist played a fundamental role in designing a new approach to samba, mixing with elements of funk and rock, among many other genres.
The 17th edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ is therefore privileged to receive the warm rhythms with complex compositions that will infect dance in the coolest festival of the summer.
The classics in Jorge Ben Jor‘s career succeed one another and take on various genres such as the case of “Taj Mahal”, “País Tropical”, “Chove Chuva”, “O Telefone Tocou Novamente”, and the worldwide success of 1963 “Mas, que nada!”.
The exemplary mixture of various elements of Brazilian popular culture is reflected in the work of the artist from Rio de Janeiro, considered by Rolling Stone Brasil as one of the 5 most important artists in the entire history of MPB.
The characteristic swing of Brazilian music and its artists has in Jorge Ben Jor a kind of greater figure as reflected in the dozens of edited albums, the hundreds of versions that artists of all generations make, the constant tributes of musicians of soul, funk, hip hop and even bossa nova.
