Kurt Cobain guitar in ‘Unplugged’ sold for 6 million

The buyer is Australian businessman Peter Freedman, founder of the microphone company Rode Microphones, who physically participated in Julien’s auction of music icon objects in California.

Bids for the sale opened at one million dollars and reached six million with fees and commissions.

So far, the most expensive guitar in history was a Fender Stratocaster used by guitarist David Gilmour of the British group Pink Floyd, which earned $ 3.975 million during a sale organized by Christies’s house in June 2019.

The semi-acoustic guitar, sold with the personalized case by Cobain, is a rare model D-18E, manufactured in 1959 by the American company Martin, which made only 302 copies.

The album “MTV Unplugged New York” was recorded at a concert in New York on November 18, 1993, at the height of Nirvana, the most striking rock group of the 1990s and representative of the grunge musical movement.
