Lagos has many cultural activities where many local traditions are celebrated ranging from architecture to the time of discovery. The city has a diverse range of cultural venues and shops, restaurants and bars. The city center and Lagos Marina are places of intense nightlife. Activities and sea trips have enriched the offer of leisure alternatives in the region.

Dr. José Formosinho Municipal Museum – Housed in a building attached to the Santo António Church, it was founded in 1932. Its collection is distributed in the Archeology, Sacred Art, History of Lagos, Algarve Ethnography, Painting, Numismatics, Mineralogy sections. and Overseas Ethnography.
Lagos Cultural Center – The CCL is a multidisciplinary space for the production and presentation of cultural activities, with a special focus on performing events in the field of performing arts and visual arts. It has a 300-seat auditorium and a temporary exhibition area of 500 m2 spread over 3 rooms.
Living Science Center of Lagos – the great motto of this Center is the scientific and technological dissemination to the general public, as well as the formation of animators and teachers, the support to schools, the collaboration between scientific institutions, companies, municipalities and educational institutions.
Discoveries Wax Museum – Opened on 27/10/2014 Housed in Lagos Marina, this themed space extends over more than two hundred square meters, consists of 16 scenarios and 22 full-scale wax figures. Here are portrayed some key moments of the Discoveries period, such as the Battle of Aljubarrota, the marriage of D. João I to Filipa de Lencastre, the conquests of North Africa, a hold of a ship, the Cape of Good Hope and Bojador, without forgetting Luis Vaz de Camões, who narrated the epic of the Discoveries in the “Lusíadas”. There are 22 wax figures that make up the estate and tell the historical journey of the Epic of Portuguese Discoveries. The Discoveries Wax Museum can be visited daily throughout the year.
José Manuel Rosado House Museum – located at Rua dos Alegretes, nº31, includes much of José Manuel Rosado’s personal estate, Master in the Art of Transformism, Actor of Theater, Television and Cinema (creator of the character Lydia Barloff).
Gastronomy
The sea is a source of wealth of Algarve cuisine, with the most varied dishes of fish, shellfish and shellfish. Bedbugs, Bulhão Pato clams, fried calamari, octopus or razor clam rice, horse mackerel, roasted sardines are just a few of the many appetizers and dishes on the menu of any restaurant. In meat, the grain stew; the corn stew; pork with clams and broad beans are some examples.
Almond and fig (and even carob) are protagonists in the Algarve sweets. Cupcakes made from soft-stuffed almond dough or egg yarn are the basis for a wide range of fantasies. Dom Rodrigos are also made of almond and eggs, protected by a silver colored wrapper. Also the famous Morgado does not dispense the almond. Fig, when dried, whole or crushed, allows a wide variety of uses.
Once again, there is the Arte Doce Contest Fair, which takes place in Lagos on the last weekend of July, where the traditional Algarve sweets are highlighted.
