Liga approves five substitutions and decides descents and ascents

The extraordinary General Assembly of the League, which takes place this Monday in the city of Porto, approved the already decreed ascents and descents in the II League, a test that was interrupted and later considered ended because of the pandemic of the new coronavirus.

Most of the clubs present in this great meeting approved the promotions of Nacional da Madeira and Farense to the first division of Portuguese football, as well as the descents of Cova da Piedade and Casa Pia to the Championship of Portugal.

The plan to support second tier clubs, through an LPFP treasury fund in the amount of 1.52 million euros (ME), complementary to the one million created by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), was also approved.

The two funds amount to 2.52 ME, which can represent approximately 170 thousand euros for each club, 108.500 euros through the mechanism created by the LPFP and 62.500 euros by the FPF.

In the same great meeting, the clubs voted whether or not there would be five substitutions in the remaining nine rounds of the Portuguese championship.

The measure approved by a large majority, according to the same source, will go into effect from the 26th day, whose first game is scheduled Tuesday and will oppose Gil Vicente to Famalicão, in Barcelos.

These five substitutions can only be made in three stops in the game (per team). The number of alternates also increases from the current seven to nine.
