The 17th edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ kicks off with a glow. Lionel Brockman Richie Jr is one of the international icons of soul music.
A member of the band Commodores, he decided to go solo and release unique themes such as “All Night Long”, “Say you, say me” and “Endless Love”. On July 25th, EDPCOOLJAZZ will be the setting for Lionel Richie’s legendary music.
Born in Alabama in 1949, he began his solo career shortly after college, preferring to pursue the musical arts rather than his degree at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. In 1968, he became a member of the band Commodores as vocalist and saxophonist and were born themes such as “Easy”, “Three Times a Lady”, “Still” and “Sail On”. In 1982, Lionel Richie released his first solo album, which included songs such as “You Are” and “My Love”. In 1984, the artist releases the Can’t Slow Down album which includes one of the artist’s biggest hits, “Hello”. Over the years, Richie has continued to produce music, creating hymns that continue to be part of music culture.
With 37 nominations for awards such as Oscars, American Music Awards and Golden Globes, Lionel Richie has been awarded 17 times over the years for his albums and unique themes. He is currently an American Idol USA jury and continues to step on stage with “Hello! Tour'”. On July 25, Lionel Richie has an appointment with EDPCOOLJAZZ for an unforgettable concert, where the public will embark on a unique trip through his repertoire.

The night of July 25th will be a milestone in the poster of the 17th EDPCOOLJAZZ, hosting one of the greatest legends of American culture at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome in Cascais. The 16th edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ also held in Cascais, with names like Diana Krall, The Roots, Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum, Kraftwerk, among others.

EDPCOOLJAZZ is a landmark music event that brings together music, nature and heritage. The first edition took place in 2004, starting with the offer of a cultural and tourist event that made a difference. The consistency of eclectic taste coupled with the “cool” strand provided by the golden of the event are hallmarks that Live Experiences has placed since the first year of the festival. Marechal Carmona Park and Hippodrome Manuel Possolo will be the stage of this edition again.
The Hippodrome, located in Marechal Carmona Park and next to the Cascais Museum District (Paula Rego Museum, Cascais Cultural Center), becomes an idyllic space, with a strong connection to culture, nature and historical heritage – a scenario that plays perfectly with the festival’s DNA.
