Local Natives confirmed for Super Bock Super Rock
The 26th edition of Super Bock Super Rock already knows new dates, but there is something that grows over the months: the desire to celebrate Authentic Music is greater today than ever! The Festival’s mythical house next to Meco beach remains ready to receive 3 days forever, with all its charms and its unique atmosphere.

Local Natives
Local Natives were born from the meeting between guitarist Ryan Hahn, singer and guitarist Taylor Rice and keyboardist Keley Ayer, when they were still attending high school in Orange Country in the USA, and at a time when they were playing together in various punk bands. It was only later, in 2008, that the line-up was completed with drummer Matt Frazier and bassist Andy Hamm, essential contributions to the consolidation of the band’s musical language.
“Gorilla Manor”, the debut album, arrived shortly after, in 2009, with the British label Infectious Records. In 2013, after the departure of Andy Hamm and the entry of bassist Nick Ewing, Local Natives released their second album. “Hummingbird” is a darker and more atmospheric record than the debut album.
The band’s popularity has continued to increase, as has the recognition by critics, completely surrendered to the post-punk urgency that marks some of the best songs in this American quintet.
In the beginning it was impossible not to make comparisons with some of the strongest names in indie music of this century, such as Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear or Yeasayer, but as time went by the Local Natives got their own place, marked by unmistakable harmonies, by the influence the music of the African continent and the Middle East, the dream pop atmosphere and a series of other elements that, together, make Local Natives one of the best bands of the moment.
In 2016 they released their third album, “Sunlit Youth”. The use of synthesizers gave optimism to this album, something that is very evident in themes like “Coins”.
Three years after the edition of “Sunlit Youth”, the year 2020 brought a new album by Local Natives. “Violet Street” features the experienced production of Shawn Everett (Weezer, The War on Drugs) and has singles as strong as “When Am I Gonna Lose You” or “Café Amarillo”.
The postponement of the 26th Super Bock Super Rock did not diminish the desire that Local Natives have to be with the Portuguese public. And there is already a new date for this meeting: July 17, 2021, on the EDP Stage of Super Bock Super Rock.
