Luís Louro wins AmadoraBD’s Best Work for Portuguese Author

The Comics and Illustration Awards of the 2020 edition of the Amadora BD Festival also distinguished Zé Nuno Fraga, with the Revelation Award, for the album “A Assembleia das Mulheres”.

The Award for Best Foreign Comic Work, published in Portuguese, went to “The Man Who Killed Lucky Luke”, by Matthieu Bonhomme. Still in the area of ​​Comics, the album “Tequila Shots“, with a script by Claudio Yuge and drawing by Juan Burgos, received the Best Fanzine or Independent Publication Award.

In the field of Illustration, the Prize for Best Work by Portuguese Illustrator went to “Desvio“, by Ana Pessoa and Bernardo P.Carvalho. As Best Work by Foreign Illustrator, “Mvsevm” was awarded by Javier Sáez Castán and Manuel Marsol.

The announcement of the winners was made this afternoon, at the Recreios da Amadora auditorium, where the documentary “Entre Traços: 30 Anos de Comics” was also presented, about the Amadora BD Festival. The film was made available on the festival’s social networks.

This year, the AmadoraBD Festival adapted to the covid-19 pandemic, cut the categories of annual awards in half.

In previous editions, prizes were awarded in eleven categories, distinguishing individually scriptwriters, designers, illustrators, and the book as a whole, including illustrated album, BD album, humorous strips and ‘ninth art’ classics.
