Luisa Sobral and Zahara met in Coruña in February to collaborate on the La Residencia Project. The challenge had been launched by both broadcaster Ángel Carmona of Rádio 3 (Spain), in order to bring together the two composers that she appreciates and seemed to have something in common.
From the meeting came ‘Todo Lo Que No Está‘, a beautiful song that they composed and recorded in just three days of living together. The recording included the participation of Spanish musician Martí Perarnau IV, on keyboards, and drummer Carlos Miguel Antunes, Luísa’s usual collaborator.
La Residencia is a music laboratory promoted by the Fundação Padeia, through the recording studio Estudios Mans, in collaboration with the radio program ‘Hoy Empieza Todo‘ with the aim of bringing together artists from different spectra in order to collaborate freely in the creation of songs.
Zahara is a prestigious Spanish singer and songwriter with 4 edited albums and numerous bestsellers. One of his singles, ‘Con las ganas‘, has already exceeded 75 million views on YouTube.
«I felt so much admiration for Luisa that the idea of spending a few days with her already excited me and made me happy. In addition, I was able to closely observe his creative process and learn from it. The music we made together is more than you could ever imagine and wish for. I hope you like it as much as we do.»
«Today the song I composed with Zahara comes out. We had 3 days to compose it and we did it in 3 hours. We didn’t know each other but in those 3 hours, we became friends. That’s the music. I hope you like “Everything that is not”. We love it!»
