From the 22nd to the 25th of June, the third edition of the Management Summit will take place, an annual event that aims to connect the academic and business worlds. Organized by management students from the Piaget Institute, the event had to adapt to the conditions imposed by the pandemic and was transferred in its entirety to the digital universe.
It is this Monday that the third edition of the Management Summit begins, an initiative aimed at current and future managers and all those who are interested in the management theme. For four days, several experts will debate the changes, challenges and demands facing the business world, now shaken in multiple sectors by the effects of the current pandemic crisis.
The Management Summit 2020 is an organization of the students of the Management degree of the Piaget Institute of Almada, extending until Thursday, June 25th. Among the topics under discussion is the impact of digital transformation, the effects of Covid-19 on management professionals, the challenges of tourism in the next decade and management in the health sector.
For the first time, and due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which still does not allow large gatherings of people, the Summit 2020 Management sessions will take place exclusively online, via zoom, daily from 9:30 pm.
“The event aims to bring the academic world closer to the business world, in a common space for reflection and sharing of experiences”, says João Geraldes, coordinator of the Management degree at the Piaget de Almada Institute, who adds: “The Summit Management allows, for an On the one hand, future managers will learn important lessons and insights in planning their future professional activity and, on the other hand, it is a moment of excellence for current managers to reflect, in pairs, on the great challenges that arise at the beginning of a new decade ”.
On the first day, June 22, the topic under discussion will be “The Impact of Digital Transformation and Covid-19 on Management Professionals”. The speakers will be Inês Coelho, head of digital growth of CTT – Correios de Portugal; Fernando Matos, president of DSPA – Data Science Portuguese Association; and Rui António Maia Lima, president of Grupo FLima. Professor João Geraldes will be in charge of moderation.
On the 23rd, the motto chosen is “New Decade, New Requirements and New Managers. What is required of Managers after 2020? ”. In moderation by the professor at the Piaget Institute, Jaqueline Silva, Margarida Barbosa, head of career services of the Global Partners Group; Jorge Filipe, human resources director of the distribution group Auchan; and Pedro Amorim, general director of Experis Portugal.
“The Challenges of Tourism in the Next Decade” will be the topic under discussion on the 24th, with the participation of Luís Coito, from Turismo de Portugal; Bruno Correia, manager of Altis; and Raul Ribeiro Ferreira, president of ADHP – Association of Hotel Directors of Portugal. Moderation is ensured by Professor Ermelinda Carrachás.
The last day, June 25, is dedicated to health services with the theme “Should Health be Managed by Managers, Health Professionals or Both?“. The guests will be Margarida Moura Theias, administrator of Maternidade Alfredo da Costa; Miguel Papança, national account manager at Gilead Sciences; and Paulo Duarte, MCM lead & digital partnerships at the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Professor Rui Gonçalves will be the moderator.
