The Municipality of Manteigas organizes at the weekend the V Festival of Landscape Photography – Imaginature 2018, with the theme Indoor Landscapes, to promote and enhance the local landscape heritage, was announced today.
The event, with free entry, has as main novelties a photographic tour, a debate on “Another Look: The Woman in Landscape Photography” and the distinction of Landscape Photographer of the Year.
“In the middle of autumn, this is the right time for lovers of photography and nature to visit the region of Serra da Estrela, painted in gold,” the municipality said in a statement.
The source said that “in promoting and enhancing landscape heritage,” the initiative, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, attracts landscape photography lovers, with the presence of 12 speakers, including two Spanish speakers.
“Through a multifaceted range of photographers, the festival also presents different approaches to the intimate connection between landscape and man, between the natural environment and the photographer. From the mountains to the sea, from the untouched landscape to rurality, to the way as the man himself is portrayed in the landscape, all these approaches will be present, “he says.
The municipality of Manteigas, in the district of Guarda, promotes an event that “guarantees to see the landscape as never before, through the emotions and the reasons of being allowed to touch it with a camera in hand.”
The organization recalls that landscape photography “is one of the most popular photography styles” because “it allows to create a connection to the natural environment and also to help raise awareness of the importance of preserving nature, a trend initiated by the great naturalist photographers of the century past”.
The Imaginature Landscape Photography Festival program includes photo exhibits, masterclasses, lectures, a photo tour, a photo contest and demonstration of equipment, among other moments.
The event also hosts a national photography contest of nature, which this year celebrates 32 years, and which had more than a hundred and fifty participants.
According to the source, the contest will recognize the photographers who stood out in the themes “Manteigas: Vale por Natureza”, “Interior Landscapes” and “Natural Landscapes of Portugal”, and to award Landscape Photographer of the Year award.
