Marcos Freitas in the main frame of the Australia Open in table tennis


Portugal’s Marcos Freitas today qualified for the first round of the main table in Australia’s table tennis Open in Geelong, defeating Omar Assar in four sets.

Marcos Freitas, 30th in the world rankings, faced some opposition on the part of the 58th of the world hierarchy, but ended up winning by 4-, with partial highlights, of 12-10, 14-12, 12-10 and 11- 9.

On Thursday, in the first round of the mainframe, Marcos Freitas will play with 108-man Hu Heming of Australia, in a game scheduled for 17:30 local time (8:30 am in Lisbon).
