“L’Ile aux Oiseaux” by Maya Kosa and Sérgio da Costa participates in the San Sebastián festival in September
The new film by the Swiss-Portuguese duo of Maya Kosa and Sérgio da Costa, “L’Ile aux Oiseaux” will be in competition at the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
“L’Ile aux Oiseaux” (“Bird Island”) tells the story of a young man named Antonin who, after a long period of isolation, rediscovers the world in a bird rehabilitation center.
The film was also in the Gift Filmmakers competition at the Swiss festival of Locarno,
The Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the Basque festival is the most comprehensive of the event and the 19 competition titles include new work by directors such as Bertrand Bonello, Mati Diop, Takashi Miike and Diao Yinan.
The festival also highlights the presence of Japanese Takashi Miike, who is responsible for several cult horror and action films, which will feature “First Love,” which also premiered at Cannes.
The San Sebastián International Film Festival will take place from 20 to 28 September.
