Mazgani published on February 7th the new album ‘The Gambler Song’ and chose the Capitólio to present it live in Lisbon, on March 4th.
It is an album about love, their encounters and their mismatches, longing and loneliness, the distance he considers essential to compose, being totally inspired by the music of Leonard Cohen, passing by Tom Waits and Bob Dylan.
The Capitolio did not miss his well-known songs, which excited the audience, who paid tribute to the performance of the singer of Iranian origin.
Shahryar Mazgani graduated in Law, is a composer, singer and guitarist, who found his passion for music, he is a native of Iran, but living in Portugal with his parents since 1979.

Her debut album ‘Song of the New Heart’, released in 2007, contains 13 themes. One of them, ‘Somewhere Beneath This Sky’, won the third prize in the Nashville International Songwriting Competition, category “AAA”. The jury consisted of Tom Waits, Robert Smith, and other notables in alternative music.
Also in 2010, he composed the music for the play “Mr Puntila and his servant Matti” by Bertold Brecht, a Portuguese adaptation by João Lourenço for the Teatro Aberto, from Brecht’s original play.
Mazgani was considered one of the 20 best European artists by the French magazine Les Inrockuptibles.
