MEO Mares Vivas, see you next year!

This year, Marés Vivas had a “completely sold out” capacity in the three days, surpassing 100 thousand people.

The Marés Vivas Festival in Vila Nova de Gaia returns in 2020 on the third weekend of July and thinking of a new location, said PEV Entertainment manager Jorge Lopes.

After moving in 2018 to the former Codfish Drought in Gaia, 500 meters from the former location, Jorge Lopes revealed that this is not yet the definitive site.

Claiming to be working on a definitive solution for Marés Vivas, the official explained that in the current location, owned by private and buildings will be built in the future.

We are trying to come up with a definitive solution, as we like, these two editions went well, but it is becoming impossible to stay here”, he said. However, Jorge Lopes assured that the festival will continue to be held in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the Porto district, and near the river.

The 2020 edition is already being worked out, he said, announcing that in principle will be held on the third weekend of July 17 to 19 July, he said.

Most likely from 17 to 19 because it is not yet decided whether it will be from Thursday to Saturday or from Friday to Sunday, as this year. Much depends on the availability of the artists”, he explained.

Regarding the artists who took the main stage, despite considering all the concerts “fantastic”, Jorge Lopes highlighted the performance of Ornatos Violeta on Saturday night, in what was the second of three concerts celebrating the 20th anniversary of “O Monstro Precisa de Amigos“, the band’s second album before broken up in 2002.

For his part, the president of Altice Portugal, Alexandre Fonseca, the event’s main sponsor, spoke of a “successful” partnership and ensured that the brand will continue to support music and entertainment in Portugal.

Asked if next year the festival would continue to have its signature, Alexandre Fonseca assumed that it will most likely be so because more than the brand can bring, the goal is to support music, festivals and entertainment.

Technology is something that we will continue to bring because while Sting, by way of example, acted we saw hundreds of thousands of people sharing the concert on their social networks“, he said.

For three days, and divided by four stages, Marés Vivas received more than 40 shows, including Keane, Kodaline, Ornatos Violeta, Sting, Mando Diao, Tiago Nacarato, Morcheeba, HMB and Carlão.

Now we wait to know who are the artists that will be part of next year’s poster of Marés Vivas!
