Miguel Oliveira is runner-up of Moto2
Miguel Oliveira finished second in the Moto2 Malaysian Grand Prix today, allowing Italian Francesco Bagnaia to celebrate the title of the middle class, with Portuguese being world runner-up.
The KTM rider finished just over a second behind Valentino Rossi’s brother Luca Marini, an insufficient result to take the title discussion to the final race of the season in Valencia, due to third place by Italian Francesco Bagnaia, the new champion, on a Sky Racing Kalex.
Oliveira, who had no support from team-mate Brad Binder in this race, needed to win and hope Bagnaia would be at least third.
Thus, he was 32 points behind Valentino Rossi’s Italian with 25 points in the last race.
After finishing second in the Moto3 World Championship in 2015, Miguel Oliveira is again runner-up.
