Miguel Oliveira (KTM), the leader of the Moto2 Championship, will start Sunday in second place at the Austrian Grand Prix, 11th round of the World Motorcycle Championship, at the Spielberg circuit.
In the qualifying session, Oliveira had the best time of 1.29.719 minutes and was behind Francesco Bagnaia (Kalex), who took pole position at 1.29,409. Frenchman Fabio Quartataro (Speed Up) was third fastest, with 1.29.930.
Bagnaia is the main pursuer of the Portuguese driver in the Moto Championship, being in second place, two points behind Oliveira.
“I felt good in every qualification. There was a lot of ‘grip’ on the track and only at the end I was able to make a clean lap and get into the front seats. It’s a result that leaves me satisfied and relaxed for tomorrow (Sunday), in the race, to be able to fight for the victory “, said the Portuguese.
Before qualifying, during the free practice session, Miguel Oliveira was unscathed by an accident, which happened due to a touch of the Spaniard Iker Lecuona (KTM) on the motorcycle of the Almada driver.
The Moto2 race is scheduled for 11:20 (Lisbon time).
In MotoGP, the premier class in which Miguel Oliveira will compete in the next season, pole position was achieved by championship leader and world champion Marc Marquez and in Moto3 will also be the leader of the category, Marco Bezzechi, to leave first place in the Austrian Grand Prix.
