Portugal will be part of the 71st edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which starts this Wednesday, with more than 40 national brands spread over 120 square meters, in a presence that has remained stable in recent years.

This year there are more than 40 national brands, a presence that has been stable in size and in participants for the past five years.

Portugal publishes about 19,000 new titles each year, reveals the secretary general of APEL, who has guided the development of its international activity with the aim of promoting the book and the Portuguese authors, as promoters of the cultural and publishing industry.

This year’s edition features Norway as a guest country with Princess Mette-Marit leading a retinue of writers such as Karl Ove Knausgaard, Jo Nesbo or Jon Fosse.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest in the publishing sector with over 7,500 exhibitors from 109 countries, nearly 4,000 events and 10,000 accredited journalists and bloggers. It starts this Wednesday and continues until Sunday.
