MOTELX 2019 (13th Edition) | 10-15 September 2019
MOTELX again terrorizes Lisbon!
For six days the most anticipated horror movies of the year will be screened. Highlight for “Midsommar”, with the presence of the American director Ari Aster, and the return of the Norwegian director John Andreas Andersen, with “The Quake Movie”, sequel to “The Wave” (MOTELX 2016). The horror in the feminine will also be present with Gabriela Amaral’s “The Shadow of the Father” and the return of the Soska sisters with the remake of “Rabid”, David Cronenberg’s classic. We are also honored to announce the world premiere of “Make Me Company”, the first feature film by Gonçalo Almeida, winner in 2017 of the MOTELX Award – Best Portuguese Horror Short.
As is already a tradition, the classics are back in MOTELX and we mark the fortieth anniversary of the debut of “Alien” (1979), featuring a restored 4K copy, and the documentary “Memory: The Origins of Alien” , about Ridley Scott’s masterpiece. And because it is the 13th edition, which coincides with Friday the 13th, there is no way not to revisit that day one of history’s most iconic slashers, “Friday the 13th” (1980).
MOTELX, which takes place at Cinema São Jorge from 10 to 15 September, brings together films, workshops, masterclasses, book launches, and also includes three days of Warm-Up with open-air sessions, concerts, parties and more.
