Movie ‘A Herdade’ premieres today in over 70 theaters across the country
The film ‘A Herdade‘ by Tiago Guedes, fiction about a Portuguese family throughout the twentieth century, between dictatorship and democracy, premiers today in more than 70 cinemas.
Produced by Paulo Branco, this film hits Portuguese theaters after its world premiere in August, at the Venice festival, where it was part of the official competition and was distinguished by independent critics and then screened at the Toronto film festival.
‘A Herdade‘, with an argument by Rui Cardoso Martins and Tiago Guedes, based on an idea by Paulo Branco, is Portugal’s candidate for a nomination for the Oscars (USA) and the Goya (Spain).
The cast is headed by Albano Jerónimo, in the role of João Fernandes, a charismatic man, one of those larger than life, owner of one of the largest landowners in Europe.
‘A Herdade‘ is a film of characters, actors, strong interpretations, the grandeur of the landscapes that surround them and the consequences of the secrets they carry.
Besides Albano Jerónimo, the film has the participation of Sandra Faleiro, Miguel Borges, João Pedro Mamede, João Vicente, Vilela da Costa Ward, Rodrigo Tomás, Beatriz Brás, among others.
The film has already given rise to a three-episode miniseries co-produced by RTP to be aired in late 2020 on ARTE France.
Tiago Guedes has yet to debut the feature film ‘Sadness and Joy in the Life of Giraffes’, shown this year at IndieLisboa.
