In 2020, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel will once again strengthen its support for local associations, with a global investment increase of 22% compared to 2019. A decision supported by the recognition that the associative movement is an essential driver in the development of the municipality and in the dynamics of the community, which at the moment totals about 70 collectivities, including cultural, sports, social and other sectors.
The supports under the Municipal Association Support Plan 2020, includes the allocation of funds that amount to nearly half a million euros, which represent about 4.4% of the municipal budget for this year.
Through cooperation protocols and sports development contracts, which were signed as part of a ceremony held on February 12, in the Salão Nobre of the Municipality, the municipality will transfer around 440,129.38 euros to 19 local associations throughout the year, in addition to occasional support to other associations, investment support, logistical support (transport, provision of municipal public spaces and other equipment), as well as support in the promotion and dissemination of its activities.
The ceremony was followed by a plenary meeting addressed to all local and other associations of regional and national scope also based in the municipality, in which the main guidelines of the cultural and sports strategy of the municipality for 2020, the main rules and conditions for the support to associations and reconciling the Municipal Events Plan until the end of the year.
The Mayor of São Brás de Alportel, Vitor Guerreiro, praised the dedication and commitment of the associative movement in boosting the municipality, and its contribution in promoting the civic participation of the São Brasense community and its quality of life.
