‘Música em Leiria’ has 23 shows on March 20th

Twenty-three shows are part of the program of the 38th edition ‘Música em Leiria’, a festival that reaches 12 municipalities in the district of Leiria and the municipality of Ourém between March 20 and April 25.

António Chainho and Rão Kyao perform together at Batalha Monastery at the beginning of the festival, on March 20.

The show ‘Autópsia’, by Companhia Olga Roriz, is presented at the José Lúcio da Silva Theater (TJLS), in Leiria, on March 21st.

Between 25 and 26 March, the Camerata do Orfeão de Leiria takes didactic concerts to Alvaiázere, Ansião, Castanheira de Pera, Pedrógão Grande and Figueiró dos Vinhos.

Also on March 25, the Opera ISTO, for a younger audience, is presented at TJLS.

Also in March, the festival invites the Furum Fum Fum project to play at the Mercado de Santana, in Leiria, on the 27th.

Catalan Ferran Savall comes to Portugal to present ‘Instant’ in the Cloisters of the Moagem Heritage Building, on March 28, and to the Monastery of Alcobaça, the next day.

In April, the Contratempus Quartet performs at TJLS, day 1, stage that receives the musical comedy ‘a capella’ ‘The Primitals’, day 3.

The Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra and Sofia Sousa, violet player winning the 2018 Young Musicians Award, will perform on April 4 at the Colegiada de Ourém Church and on the 5th at the Sé Catedral de Leiria.

Celtic harps from Lulavai are also invited to this ‘Music in Leiria’, with concerts at the S. Pedro Church, in Porto de Mós, on April 8, and at the Stephens Theater, in Marinha Grande, a day later.

On April 15th there will be Portuguese and Argentine music at Teatro Miguel Franco (TMF), in Leiria, with Ana Bela Chaves and Fernando Altube.

The festival also opens a stage for jazz, also at TMF, with Eduardo Cardinho Quinteto on April 19.

A piano and cello recital by Sanja Repse and Aleksandra Pavlovic is scheduled for April 23, at the Palácio dos Ataídes, in Leiria.

Soprano Isabel Alcobia and tenor Carlos Guilherme sing with the Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra on April 24 at the Teatro-Cine de Pombal.

The 2020 edition ends on April 25, with the XXI Orchestra at TJLS.
