Nadal wins and ends with João Sousa’s dream in Wimbledon

Spanish tennis player confirmed the favoritism and beat the Portuguese in the round of 16 in less than two hours.

The historic performance of João Sousa in the tournament of Wimbledon arrived, this Monday, to the end. The Vimaranense, who arrived where no other Portuguese player had reached the British event, ‘dropped’ in the round of 16 against Rafael Nadal.

The world number 2 confirmed full favoritism, won by the partial 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2 in just 1h45 and stamped the passport to the semi-finals.

In the next phase, the Spanish player will face the winner of the duel between Sam Querrey and Tennys Sandgren, which is still disputed on Monday.

This was the third duel between Rafael Nadal and João Sousa, with all of them smiling at Spanish: in 2014, in Rio de Janeiro, in 2016, in Madrid, and now in 2019 at Wimbledon.
