New Play 4 Pro has temperature sensor to measure fever

The smartphones of the professional Cat S60 line already had thermal cameras, capable of measuring the temperature spectrum for places where it was aimed.

A useful system, for example, for electricians to analyze a fuse box or electrical systems. But at a time when the world population is haunted by the COVID-19 pandemic, having a “normal” smartphone that measures body temperatures seems to be an excellent idea.

That is the concept of the new Honor models, which have just been presented in China. The Honor Play 4 Pro 5G has an infrared temperature sensor, just touch the users’ forehead or wrists to make the measurement, as you can see in the video. The smartphone can measure temperature variations between minus 20 degrees Celcius up to 100 degrees.

The Honor Play 4 model family have different specifications, with the Play 4 5G version having an LCD screen slightly larger than the Pro version: 6.81 inches and 6.57, respectively. This is due to the second punch-hole on the screen of the Pro version. The models also use different processors: the normal version has a SoC MediaTek Dimensity 800 with 6 GB of RAM, while the Pro has a Kirin 990 and 8 GB of RAM. Both models support 5G.
