Oeiras International Piano Festival
July 7 – Aug 2 | Free Entry
Auditório Ruy de Carvalho | Palácio Flor da Murta
The Oeiras International Piano Festival will be one of the first live classical music festivals in post-confinement.
It starts on Tuesday, July 7, at 7 pm, with a concert by the award-winning Teresa da Palma Pereira, who will perform pieces by Mozart, Debussy and Stravinsky.
With the exception of the opening session, all recitals will take place on Sundays, at 6 pm, until 2 August. Admission is free.
On the first Sunday of the program, on July 12, it is Jan Michiels’ turn to play Bach and Beethoven. This is followed by Grigory Gruzman, who will play Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikowsky and Gulda, on the 19th.
The Russian-Germanic pianist, with a notable international career, is part of the Trio Shostakovich and is director of the Keyboard Instrument Institute of the Weimar Academy of Music.
The festival also includes the presence of the Italian Angelo Arciglione, on the 26th of July, and Valentina Lisitsa, who plays at the closing concert, at 6 pm on the 2nd of August. The organization describes the pianist as the “first YouTube star of classical music”.
Like previous editions, this one will also have master classes, aimed at young pianists and advanced students from Portuguese and foreign schools, taking place at the Palácio da Flor da Murta.
To attend the concerts, you must pick up a ticket at the entrance to the Ruy de Carvalho Auditorium, in Carnaxide, on the day of the recitals.
