Omar Zúñiga film starts 24th Queer Lisboa Festival

The 24th edition of the festival will take place between September 18 and 26, at Cinema São Jorge and Cinemateca Portuguesa, in person format, celebrating the idea of ​​community and socialization within the necessary restrictions.

Likewise, Queer Porto 6 also takes place in person, from October 13th to 17th, at Teatro Rivoli and at the Common House of the Rectory of the University of Porto, with the film ‘Si C’Était de L’Amour’, to open, and ‘Le Milieu de L’Horizon‘, to close an event that will also feature conversations and debates attended by guests.

The jury for the feature film competition will be composed by the artist and poet André Tecedeiro, the film programmer Joana Ascensão and the actor and director Miguel Nunes.

The competing titles will be ‘El Cazador‘, by Marco Berger, ‘El Príncipe’, by Sebatián Muñoz, ‘Las Mil y Una‘, by Clarisa Navas, ‘Lingua Franca‘, by Isabel Sandoval, ‘Make Up‘, by Claire Oakley, ‘Neubau‘, by Johannes Maria Schmit, ‘No Hard Feelings‘, by Faraz Shariat, and ‘Vento Seco‘, by Brazilian Daniel Nolasco.

In the documentary competition, the jury will consist of the director and anthropologist Catarina Alves Costa, the presenter of RTP Margarida Mercês de Mello and the actor and activist Paulo Pascoal.

They will evaluate Alexis Clements’ All We’ve Got‘, Luca Ferri‘s ‘La Casa dell’Amore‘, Francisco Ríos FloresMiserere‘, Chet Catherine Pancake‘s ‘Queer Genius‘, ‘The Art of Fallism’, by Aslaug Aarsæther and Gunnbjørg Gunnarsdóttir, ‘Toutes les Vies de Kojin’, by Diako Yazdani, ‘Vil, Má’, by Gustavo Vinagre and ‘Welcome to Chechnya’, by David France.

The eight titles competing in the ‘Queer Art’ competition will be Evan Purchell‘s ‘Ask Any Buddy’, Tamar Shavgulidze‘s ‘Comets‘, Katrina Daschner‘s ‘Hiding in the Lights‘, Mike Hoolboom‘s ‘Judy versus Capitalism‘, ‘Les Nuits d’Allonzo‘, by Antoine Grainer, ‘Padrone Dove Sei‘, by Michele Schirinzi, ‘Santos‘, by Alejo Fraile, and ‘El Viaje de Monalisa‘, by Nicole Costa

This year, the competition for short films is made by the director José Magro, the actor Ricardo Barbosa and the artist and researcher Rita Natálio, who will evaluate 21 short films.

In Queer Porto 6, the official jury of the competition will be constituted by journalist Amanda Ribeiro, by the director of performing arts at RTP2, Daniel Gorjão, and by the co-founder and artistic director of the Plastic Theater, Francisco Alves, who will evaluate a total of eight feature films. fiction or documentary footage.

Along with the official competition, Queer Porto 6 will also have its ‘In My Shorts’ competition, which consists of Portuguese school films and, this year, will feature productions from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, Kino-Doc, Soares dos Reis Art School and Ar.Co.

The programming team of the two Queer festivals, in Lisbon and Porto, considered more than 1,000 films, of which 497 were received as submissions, a record number for the festival.
