Patrícia Mamona fourth and Susana Costa fifth in triple jump of the European

The Spaniard Ana Peleteiro won the European title, jumping 14.73, setting the new record for Spain in the specialty, whether on indoor or outdoor.

Portugal’s Patrícia Mamona and Susana Costa finished today in the fourth and fifth positions respectively, both with 14.43 meters, of the final of the triple jump of the European track and field championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

Patrícia Mamona (Sporting), who defended the silver medal won in 2017, achieved the best mark in the first of six attempts, being one centimetre of the national record, which improved in February, followed by two null and still 14.29, 14.39 and 14.21.

Susana Costa improved her personal best by matching Mamona in the second jump, having started the final with nil.

Then, jumper Fernanda Ribeiro Academy did not get better than 14.21 in the fifth attempt, in a contest in which it registered another null and yet 14.04 and 14.10.

The Spaniard Ana Peleteiro won the European title, jumping 14.73, setting the new record for Spain in the speciality, whether on indoor or outdoor.

The remaining places of the podium were reached by the Greek Paraskevi Papahrístou, with 14.50, and by the Ukrainian Olha Saladukha, with 14.47.
