Paulo Gonçalves in third place in the fifth stage of the Silk Road rally

The Portuguese rider Paulo Gonçalves (Hero) finished today the fifth stage of the Silk Road rally in third place and moved up to fourth place in the overall standings for the All-Terrain World Championship.

Gonçalves spent more 2.47 minutes than the winner of the draw, the British Sam Sunderland (KTM), to meet the 330 kilometers timed in the region of Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

“I was able to find a good pace on the track, which is very fast, with an average of over 100 km/hour. I got third place in the stage and recover some positions in general, we are in the race “, explained the pilot of Esposende.

With the result today, Paulo Gonçalves climbed to fourth place overall, 21.10 minutes from Sunderland, who leads the race.

“We are in a position at the end of the fifth stage, but we have five more ahead. We need to be very focused to get a good result,” concluded the Portuguese rider.

On Friday, the riders face the sixth stage, out of ten scheduled, between Ulan Bator and Mandalgovi in ​​Mongolia, with 337 kilometers timed out of a total of 364 kilometers stage.
