Paulo Monteiro among the winners of the national animation prize

The film ‘Porque é este o meu ofício’, by Paulo Monteiro, was one of the winners of the national animation prize, awarded at the 17th edition of the World Festival of Animation (FMA) in Portalegre, was announced today.

Promoted by the Casa da Animação, in partnership with cultural agents from several Portuguese cities, the FMA took place in Portalegre between October 28 and October 2.

The film by Paulo Monteiro, winner in the ‘Professional Category’, deals with the voyage of time and childhood, the way this era marks people and talks about the relationship of a child with his father.

The jury, consisting of Normand Roger, Marcy Page and Miguel Rocha, also awarded honourable mentions to the films ‘Agouro’, by David Doutel and Vasco Sá, and ‘Entre Sombras’ by Alice Guimarães and Mónica Santos.

In the category “Schools”, the jury, composed by Jorge Ribeiro, Alexandre Siqueira and Carlos Carvalho, decided to award the film “Feel me”, with Débora Rodrigues, Joana Flauzino and Vanessa Santos.

Tânia Duarte and Ícaro Pintor saw, in their turn, the film they conducted and directed, titled ‘Harmos’, to win the trophy in the ‘Category Workshops’, the jury being constituted, also in this section, by Jorge Ribeiro, Alexandre Siqueira and Carlos de Oak.

In the same category, the jury attributed an honourable mention to the film ‘Menos é mais’, directed by Joana Nogueira and Patrícia Rodrigues.

The ‘Prize of the Public’ was attributed to the work ‘Entre sombras’, by Alice Guimarães and Mónica Santos.
