Pedro Sousa loses Buenos Aires tournament final

In his first final of an ATP tournament, Pedro Sousa, 145th in the world ‘ranking’ and who entered Buenos Aires as a ‘lucky loser’, was defeated by Casper Rudd, 45th, 6-1, 6-4 , in an hour and 11 minutes.

Pedro Sousa, 31 and who had never made it past the quarter-finals of an ATP tournament, joined Frederico Gil and João Sousa as the only Portuguese to dispute finals.

This was the first title in Rudd’s 21-year career.
