Peles – International Drum Fest is currently one of the most emblematic themed festivals in the country and considered at European level one of the most promising of its kind. It focuses on projects that are essentially distinguished by the crossing of percussive musical languages.
In this fifth edition, important national projects in the area of percussion were invited, always with the aim of including new projects with different artistic expressions that guarantee greater diversity and dynamics, thus counting on experienced bands of recognized quality.
To this end, its program was designed to bring the public a set of four concerts. Concerts that are characterized by the ability to bring together in this edition the best that has been done in Portugal in the area of percussion.
The pandemic situation that plagues the country has not been forgotten and, with a social objective, this year the festival creates a concert that will allow a large part of the Portuguese soloists to pass through the Festival.
“Ronda dos Mafarricos” is an eight-hour concert, which will be streamed and will host 16 of the most respected Portuguese percussionists, in which each will have about 30 minutes of solo performance.
Considering the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, the artistic direction of Peles and the direction of CAISA, opted for the realization of this edition entirely in streaming, which allows the Festival to be held, maintaining all safety rules and complying with the rules established by DGS.
