Experience an online virtual visit to Porto Covo – Sines
The parish of Porto Covo was created on December 31, 1984, by detachment from the parish of Sines, until then the only parish in the municipality of the same name (which ceased to be one of the seven Portuguese municipalities with only one parish to integrate its territory) ). It was not extinguished by the 2013 reform as the aggregation of parishes did not reach municipalities with less than 4 parishes.
A song by Rui Veloso takes the name of this parish and made it known among the Portuguese.
Pessegueiro Island, with its fort, is geographically part of the territory of the parish of Porto Covo.
