Portugal as a filming destination promoted in Cannes
During the Cannes Festival, Portugal promoted the country as a destination for filming, an event attended by about one hundred directors and producers, the incentive program has a lot of acceptance and curiosity from the participants.
The directors and producers present at the cocktail with the organization of Tourism of Portugal and the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Festival of Cannes, with the intention of promoting the new national program of monitoring and tax credit for films made in Portugal.
One of the participants was Saïd Ben Saïd, producer of “The God of Carnage”, “Aquarius” and “Frankie”, a film shot in Portugal already under this program and that is in competition in the French festival.
The producer classified as exceptional his experience in Portugal.
The Tourism, Cinema and Audiovisual Support Fund has an annual budget of € 12 million and involves a minimum investment of € 500,000 in Portugal to apply for films filmed in a national terrarium or € 250,000 for production alone.
The Portugal Film Commission was also created with the aim of promoting Portugal as a destination for filming and making it easier to authorize and license foreign film productions.
Already has supported 26 projects and 14 applications are under analysis.
