Portugal receives qualification for European volleyball Championship
Portugal will receive two qualifying rounds for the final stage of the 2021 European men’s and women’s volleyball championships in January 2021, announced today the European Confederation of the sport (CEV).
If the situation of the covid-19 pandemic evolves favorably, Portugal will be the host of Tournament 1 of group B for women, from 7 to 10 January 2021, and Tournament 2 of group G for men, from 14 to 17 of the same month.
Tournament 2 of group B for women takes the Portuguese team to Georgia, from January 14 to 17, 2021, while tournament 1 of the men’s G will be played in Hungary, from January 7 to 10.
In this final phase of qualifying for the 2021 European Championship, the male national team faces, in two tournaments of the group G, Norway, Belarus and Hungary, while Georgia, Ukraine and Sweden are the opponents of the female, in two group B tournaments.
In the men’s category, they qualify for next year’s European Championship, organized by Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland, the winners of the seven qualifying groups and the five best runners-up.
For women, next year’s Europeans, taking place in Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania, will win the selections of the six qualifying groups and the six runners-up.
Both for men and women, the 12 teams selected in these qualifying phases will join the 4 organizers and the other 8 teams already qualified according to the final classification of the 2019 edition.
