Portugal thrashed Romania at the European Games

The Portuguese national team beat Romania 8-2 on Wednesday and remained in contention for a place in the semi-finals of the second European Games beach soccer tournament in Minsk, Belarus.

A day after the defeat with Switzerland (3-1 after extra time), in their debut in Group A, Portugal added the first victory in the competition, with João Gonçalves and Belchior in the spotlight.

In the Portuguese victory, Gonçalves scored twice at eight and 17 minutes, and Belchior later imitated his team-mate at 32 and 34. André Lourenço, Rui Coimbra, Bê Martins, and Jordan Santos also signed his name on the match.

Ionut Florea and Iulian Ravoiu made the Romania goals, which suffered another heavy blow after 6-1 with Belarus on Matchday 1.

Portugal, who was a bronze medalist in Baku2015, provisionally equalized Belarus at the top of Group A with three points, although the home team has one less game (against Switzerland today).
