Portuguese artists represented in the digital edition of Art Paris

This year Art Paris decided to present the 22nd edition exclusively online.

Every year, the fair gathers works presented by around 150 international galleries, covering art from the post-war period to the present, in a geographical horizon that ranges from Europe to Asia, passing through the Middle East and Latin America.

Until Sunday, visitors will have access to original digital content presented by participating galleries and other institutions linked to art, namely the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris.

Portuguese galleries such as São Mamede or Galeria Foco, or Galeria Jeanne Buchner Jaeger, also with space in Lisbon, present in their selection of artists, Portuguese creations by artists of several generations.

Nadir Afonso (1920-2013), Júlio Pomar (1926-1918), Manuel Cargaleiro, Jorge Queiroz, Julião Sarmento, Rui Moreira, Paula Guimarães, Miguel Branco, and Ana + Betânia (Ana Cruz and Maria de Betânia), are some of the Portuguese artists with works of art displayed at the fair.

The artist couple Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992) and Arpad Szenes (1897-1985), who lived a large part of their life in France, also have works represented in this year’s edition of Art Paris.

There are also creations by artists from Brazil such as Os Gémeos, Sergio de Camargo (1930-1990), Rosana Ricalde, João Galvão, or Caetano de Almeida.

In addition to these, there are works by artists who had a strong connection to Portugal, such as Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979), of Russian origin, but who lived most of her life in Paris, having also spent some years in Portugal, where, with her husband, also artist Robert Delaunay, lived with Portuguese artists such as Amadeu de Souza-Cardoso and Eduardo Viana.

Visitors will also be able to find works in painting, drawing, photography, objects or sculpture by artists such as Salvador Dali, Damien Hirst, Louise Bourgeois, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Georges Braque or David Hockney online.
