Portuguese at the Paris / Berlin International Meetings

The Paris / Berlin International Encounters, starting today in Paris, will feature three works by Salomé Lamas, the film ‘Mariphasa’ by Sandro Aguilar and a projection by Rita Quelhas.

Miguel Valverde, director of Indielisboa, and Emília Tavares, curator of the Chiado Museum, are some of the participants in the round tables of the event.

The International Encounters Paris / Berlin festival, which runs until Sunday in the French capital, brings together in the edition of 2019, different expressions of contemporary art, especially with regard to image and the performing arts.

In the 2019 edition, Portugal is present at the cinema showcase with three Salomé Lamas films – ‘Terminal’, ‘Hangar’ and ‘Metro’ – which will be shown under the ‘Architectures’ section on Friday.

This is the first time these films are shown in France and Emília Tavares, director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Chiado Museum, will talk with the public about the works of the Portuguese filmmaker.

Already on Sunday, the film ‘Mariphasa’, by Sandro Aguilar, will be shown in a special session in the auditorium of the Louvre Museum. The work of Rita Quelhas, ‘A Minha Juventude’, will be available in the video library of the event.

In addition to an art show, this meeting, which has existed since 1997, also promotes debates on new forms of cinema and contemporary art in general, and this year, it features in its round tables with various personalities of Portuguese culture.

Among the guests for the different round tables are Miguel Dias, director of Curtas Vila do Conde, and Dario Oliveira, director of Porto / Post / Doc.
