Portuguese mission present at Canada’s largest aerospace convention

A Portuguese aerospace business mission is in Canada to participate in the industry’s largest global business convention with the goal of “consolidating relationships between companies,” the organization said in a statement.

The Portuguese Cluster for the Aeronautical Industries of Space and Defense (AEDCP) and the Center Business Council (CEC) – Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Center participate until Thursday at Aeromart Montreal 2019.

“The presence of the AEDCP in Montreal is to consolidate relations between companies from national and Canadian scientific systems in the aerospace and defence sectors, to strengthen the recognition of Portuguese industry in the international arena,” says AEDCP director general Rui Santos.

The official also underlined the importance of participation in the event by the “transfer of knowledge“, presenting one of the “most important initiatives for the Portuguese aeronautics and aerospace sectors“, the KN4Aerospace project, aimed at promoting the internationalization of Portuguese companies.

Our purpose is clear: to make a presentation and the efforts that have been made by our highly qualified human resources to increase the competitiveness, responsibility and visibility of the Portuguese aerospace industry,” he adds.

In addition to the Portuguese Cluster for the Industries of Space and Defense Aeronautics and the Business Council of the Center, the Portuguese delegation includes elements of the Canadian embassy in Portugal, the Ponte de Sor Town Hall, Almadesign and the Iberian International Nanotechnology Laboratory , who are in Montreal until April 18, following the KnowHow5Aerospace project.

The Portuguese delegation will also visit Montreal research, research and technological development centres as well as local companies.

The AEDCP intends in this way to “cement the relationship that Portugal and Canada have in the aerospace sector“.

AEDCP is the only cluster that has collaboration protocols with two of the largest Canadian clusters in Ontario and Montreal, with the national innovation, development and research agencies (CARIC / CRIAQ / GARDN) and the government research entity and technological innovation of the sector (NRC).

Founded in 2016, AED Cluster Portugal is a non-profit association with more than 60 associates, representing 18,000 highly qualified jobs, a turnover of 1,700 million euros and an export capacity of 86%.
