The Portuguese Rotary Foundation and the organizing committee of the Lyrical Singing Contest postpone, to 2021, the 11th edition of the Lyrical Singing Contest, taking into account the constraints resulting from the current pandemic situation.
On departure, the date of the tests will take place in the last week of April, with the Final Test for May 1, 2021, in the small Auditorium of the CCB already confirmed.
At issue is the prospect of a renewal, possibly aggravated, of the present state of emergency that would result in increased organizational constraints, which jeopardized the performance of the tests on the scheduled dates and times and even the possibility of participation by competitors, members of jury and the organization, given the traffic restrictions imposed by the curfew.
The organization expects that, with this new calendar, “the constraints that the pandemic is currently causing us will be lessened, allowing less uncertainty and greater brilliance in carrying out this Contest”.
For the 11th edition, the Portuguese Rotary Foundation Lyrical Singing Contest received 41 applications from young lyric singers from all over the country, one of the largest registrations in the history of the competition’s editions.
Since 2007, the Portuguese Rotary Foundation’s Lyrical Singing Contest has been asserting itself as a major initiative in the dissemination of lyrical singing at national level.
The initiative, promoted by the Portuguese Rotary Foundation, aims to promote the artistic improvement of young lyric singers, with advanced studies and at the beginning of their careers, supporting the continuation of their studies through the awarding of scholarships.
This support is offered by the Portuguese Rotary Foundation and other entities associated with the competition, as is the case of the Lisbon City Council, and is essential for the realization of the artistic aspirations of young lyric singers.
