Portuguese wants to set world MTB record in 24-hour challenge

Portuguese MTB cyclist Tiago Ferreira is going to do an unprecedented 24-hour challenge this Wednesday, where he intends to set a new world record, cycling continuously in a closed forest circuit with a 214 meter gap.

The initiative will take place in the area of S. Pedro do Sul, in the center of the country, in a place that the athlete preferred not to disclose to avoid concentration of people in the area, consisting of a climb of about 1.5 kilometers that the cyclist will cover, both ways, as many times as possible.

The start of the race is scheduled for 10:00 this Wednesday, July 22, and its end at the same time of the following day, July 23, and represents a feat never before attempted by the experienced athlete.

The mountain biking cyclist, who for some years already had the desire to do this challenge but that the situation of the pandemic of covid-19, which caused all national and international events to be canceled.
