Primavera with Beatriz Pessoa at the Maria Matos theater

Beatriz Pessoa presented her project “Serões de Primavera em Novembro” at the Maria Matos theater with Salvador Sobral as a guest.

Serões de Primavera em Novembro (“Spring Sessions in November”) is Beatriz Pessoa‘s latest project to not only present her album “Primaveras” but to use her platform to talk about important issues such as feminism, sexuality, careers, and racism.

With Guilherme Salgueiro on the keys, Guilherme Melo on the drums, and Ricardo Marques on the bass, Beatriz invited Salvador Sobral to accompany her in what was the first session of November, at the Maria Matos theater, last Tuesday, November 10th.

We could hear themes like “Feminina”, “Everyday Fights”, “Elefante da Sorte”, “Fundo Azul” and “Medo de Estimação”. The theme of this first session was “fear” and in a loose and sincere conversation, Salvador Sobral and Beatriz Pessoa discussed their fears with the audience in an intimate moment.

Beatriz Pessoa will return to the stage of the Maria Matos theater on the 17th of November, this time with Beatriz Gosta, with the theme on sexuality without taboos, and will do two more sessions at the CCOP Auditorium, in Porto, on the 21st of November with Clara Não, on feminism, and on November 25 with Lena d’Água, with a session on women’s career as an artist.

When I wrote the songs on my first album, spring took on a different, more continuous meaning. I learned that we chose our new beginnings and that spring is the birth of one thing and the death of another. I learned the beauty of the end of things and of this giant opening of possibilities. But more than that, I learned that the time for these reflections was a privilege, that the time when I could think and write songs was something impossible for other people. I want to try to make my spring an attempt, perhaps naive, to give the place to talk about subjects that I find important and fracturing to those who have them, more than me. May it be spring in November!” – Beatriz Pessoa
