Promotion of the Azores in California must be continuous

The President of the Government of the Azores, Vasco Cordeiro, today appreciated his official visit to California in recent days and said that the promotion of the region in the United States must be continuous.

“There are areas in the economic development of the Azores that can count on the notoriety and promotion of the Azores in California“, considers Vasco Cordeiro, listing the tourism sector, the sea, space or the technological sector.

Following the visit to the United States, there should be “continuous work” to promote the region, but there have been “particularly significant moments” in the past days in California, which can bring potential to the Azores, namely a meeting in Los Angeles with several investments in the Portuguese archipelago.

Vasco Cordeiro told today about the recent visit to California, with the entourage going through cities like Los Angeles, Fresno or San Diego.

The head of the Azorean government returns to the archipelago today after a five-day official visit to the US state of California, interspersing official, political and economic contacts with Azorean communities.

According to official data, the population of Portuguese origin in the state is about 345 thousand people, estimated that about 70% is from the Azores.

During this official visit, the President of the Government of the Azores was accompanied by the regional secretary responsible for External Relations, Rui Bettencourt, and MPs of the PS and PSD to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The time difference in California is eight hours less for mainland Portugal and seven hours for the Azores.
