Qatar Airways “draws” a bow in the sky to mark breast cancer prevention month

Qatar Airways marks the month of awareness against breast cancer with a special flight, which designed the symbol of this cause in the skies of Qatar – a pink bow. Flight QR9901 followed a special route, so that it was possible to create the image of the loop in the sky, and the plane’s route was broadcast live on the flight movement sites.

The plane’s route attracted the attention of thousands of people, who followed the itinerary live and saw the QR9901 trace the loop, a symbol of awareness of breast cancer. The flight, entitled “Think Pink”, was operated exclusively by women – from operators, technicians, dispatch teams, cabin crew, and cockpit. The QR9901 departed from Hamad International Airport (HIA) at 9:00 am local time on 17 October and landed 65 minutes later, after completing its objective.

Onboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most efficient and technologically advanced planes, passengers – special guests of the airline – received an exclusive service “Think Pink”, in which they were presented with a special message from the commander, and numerous color elements pink, including drinks and Qatar Airways “Think Pink” bracelets, and “pink BRICs” amenities.

The “Think Pink” experience was introduced in the lounges and, on some of the company’s flights, since the beginning of October and includes the offer of amenities – personalized and limited edition – and special menus, in which the pink predominates.

The Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways is one of the major sponsors of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all the incredible and hard work that it is dedicated to. research and development of solutions that help to beat breast cancer. Together we hope to reach as many people as possible, and help save lives”.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Ms. Salam Al Shawa, said: “Qatar Airways is committed to supporting the fight against breast cancer. Our effort and dedication to raise awareness among our employees, passengers, and the community in general, reflect the company’s dedication to this cause”.

Flight QR9901 was the last event held, based on the awareness plan created by the airline, to draw attention to the prevention and control of breast cancer among the thousands of employees, passengers and the public of Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President of Nationalization and Special Projects, Ms. Nabeela Fakhri, said: “Qatar Airways is dedicated to promoting breast cancer prevention. This year, we planned a series of awareness-raising initiatives to encourage all precautions to be taken to ensure well-being. In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to ensure that early detection and screening services for cancer patients remain a priority.”

Qatar Airways operates around 700 weekly flights to more than 100 destinations, providing a greater offer to several destinations worldwide than any other airline. The airline was named ‘World’s Best Airline’ by the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport classification organization Skytrax.

It was also designated “Best Airline in the Middle East”, “Best Business Class in the World”, and “Best Seat in Business Class”, in recognition of its pioneering experience in Business Class, Qsuite. It is the only airline to have received the coveted title of ‘Skytrax Airline of the Year’ five times, the pinnacle of excellence in the airline industry.

Qatar Airways‘ hub of operations, Hamad International Airport, was recently rated “Best Airport in the Middle East” and “Third Best Airport in the World” by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2020.
