Qatar Airways expands network to more than 90 destinations

Qatar Airways continues to lead the aviation industry by offering greater global connectivity compared to any other airline.

With this airline’s flights never having been below 30 destinations since the start of the pandemic, the resumption of services to Amman, Entebbe, Hanoi, Seychelles, Windhoek and Yerevan and the launch of new routes to Accra, Qatar Airways will triple the network until October, demonstrating its resilience and commitment.

The Chief Executive of the Qatar Airways Group, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are proud to be the world’s leading airline connecting passengers with the world, helping to bring people safely and sustainably to where they need to be. Having one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets allows us to be agile and respond quickly to passenger demand. Our focus on rebuilding our network is not just about restarting destinations, but also about operating as many frequencies as possible to give our passengers the flexibility they need to travel whenever they want.”

To ensure that travelers can plan their trip with peace of mind, the airline has extended its booking policies to provide a wider range of choices.

Qatar Airways allows unlimited date changes, and passengers can change their destination as often as they need if it is within 5,000 miles of the original destination.

The airline will not charge any fare difference for travel completed before December 31, 2020, after which fare rules will apply. All tickets booked for travel until December 31, 2020 will be valid for two years from the date of issue.

According to the latest data from IATA, Qatar Airways became the largest international carrier between April and July, fulfilling its mission of taking people home. This allowed the company to accumulate unparalleled experience in transporting passengers in a safe and reliable manner. The carrier has rigorously implemented the most advanced safety and hygiene measures on board its aircraft and at Hamad International Airport.

Safety measures on board Qatar Airways for passengers and cabin crew include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and a complementary protection kit with disposable masks for passengers.

Business-class passengers on planes equipped with Qsuite can enjoy the enhanced privacy that this award-winning business seat provides, including sliding privacy dividers and the option to use a “Do Not Disturb (DND)” indicator. Qsuite is available on flights to more than 30 destinations, including Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur, London and New York.

Qatar Airways‘ operations do not depend on any specific type of aircraft. The airline’s variety of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft has allowed it to continue flying, offering the right capacity in each market.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 on travel demand, the airline made the decision to immobilize its Airbus A380 fleet, since it is not commercially or environmentally justified to operate such a large aircraft in the current market.

The fleet of 49 Airbus A350s and 30 Boeing 787s is the ideal choice for the strategically most important long-haul routes to Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions.

Qatar Airways‘ home and hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), has implemented strict cleaning procedures and applied social distance measures at all terminals.

Passengers’ contact points are cleaned every 10-15 minutes, boarding gates and bus counters are cleaned after each flight. In addition, hand sanitizers are provided at immigration and security checkpoints.

HIA was recently classified as “Third Best Airport in the World”, out of 550 airports, by the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2020. HIA was also voted “Best Airport in the Middle East”, for the sixth consecutive year, and “Best Personnel Service in the Middle East”, for the fifth consecutive year.
