Portuguese judoka Rochele Nunes won today the bronze medal in the +78 kg category of the Brasilia Grand Slam, so Portugal concluded the Brazilian competition with one gold and two bronzes.
Rochele Nunes defeated Chinese Shyan Xu in the final bout for ‘waza-ari’ after failing to reach the final after being defeated by Brazilian Maria Suelen Altheman, who finished with silver.
The Portuguese athlete began by beating Serbian Milica Zabic and German Jasmin Grabowski.
On Monday, Anri Egutidze had also been bronze, at -81 pounds, defeating Russian Khasan Khalmurzaev in the decisive match.
The best Portuguese result in Brasilia belonged to Catarina Costa, who on Sunday secured the gold medal at -48 kilos, in the final with Brazilian Gabriela Chibana.
